Anti-Bullying Program
We believe that all students should feel safe and comfortable at school everyday. The school-wide anti-bullying program aims to equip these caring students with skills to become a defender of peers facing bullying. The Bullying Circle illustrates the different roles in bullying incidents including the role of defender.
Addams Anti-Bullying Rules
- We will not bully others.
- We will try to help students who are bullied.
- We will try to include students who are left out.
- If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and at home.

Anti-Bullying Program
The Anti-bullying program aims to prevent bullying at Addams and provides students with problem solving skills to utilize during a bullying incident. Specifically, students learn;
The program lessons are taught both in health seminars during physical education and advisory classes.
Individual Anti-Bullying Guidance and Counseling
Throughout the school year, our counseling team prioritizes intervening to stop any bullying incidents. We provide individual guidance for both the target and the perpetrator of bullying. We work with parents to ensure issues are resolved and students remain safe and comfortable at school. We encourage students and families to always contact us for support with anything related to bullying.
What is Bullying?
Verbal
Name calling, threatening, nasty or hurtful comments, racial slurs, and rude remarks.
Emotional
Spreading rumours, leaving people out, gossiping, harming someone’s reputation, ignoring.
Cyberbullying
Using the Internet to: send nasty messages, spread rumours, send inappropriate emails, share private information and post inappropriate photos.
Physical
Hitting, kicking, pushing, punching, hurting, slapping.
TOP 10 ANTI-BULLYING TIPS
1. LEARN ABOUT BULLYING!
All kids play rough or tease each other sometimes, but bullying is intended to hurt the person and often happens more than once.
2. WALK AWAY!
A bully wants to get a reaction from you by saying or doing hurtful things. Show them that you can be strong and walk away from a bad situation!
3. BE CONFIDENT!
Stand up against a bully with confidence! Don’t let their bullying affect you, because they’re just trying to hurt you.
4. TELL AN ADULT!
It is very important to tell an adult or someone you trust if you or a friend is being bullied. They can help you figure out what to do.
5. DON’T BULLY OTHERS!
Sometimes, we can say or do things that hurt people. If this happens, try apologizing and make it right with the other person!
6. TALK WITH YOUR FRIENDS!
Your friends can be a great support system! If you or a friend is being bullied, talk with them about how you’re feeling.
7. BE AN ALLY!
Stand up for someone that you see being bullied and tell an adult about the problem.
8. BE CYBER SMART!
Bullying doesn’t have to happen in person. Sometimes bullies will say hurtful things on the Internet. It’s important to also learn about cyberbullying!
9. VALUE YOURSELF!
Bullying can make you feel bad, but remember you are great just the way you are!
10. BE INVOLVED!
