Brendan, an eighth grader at Jane Addams Middle School, has been selected as an ACSA Every Student Succeeding Award recipient—one of the Association of California School Administrators’ most inspiring recognitions. This award honors students who have overcome significant challenges, demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity, and continued to strive for personal and academic success. Brendan’s journey at Addams exemplifies every part of that mission.

Lawndale, CA — Lawndale Elementary School District’s Community Schools proudly hosted its first Lawndale Grateful Gathering, a vibrant community resource fair that welcomed 269 families—nearly 800 attendees—for a morning filled with essential services, learning resources, and joyful holiday activities. The event brought together a wide network of partners, volunteers, and organizations, all committed to uplifting and supporting Lawndale district families.

Schools across our district embraced the beautiful cultural tradition of Día de los Muertos with creativity and reflection, from gorgeous ofrendas to in-class art projects. From elementary to middle schools, and through the RAP program, our students and staff spent time honoring this meaningful celebration.
